Memory works more like reconstruction than stored video
Julia Shaw discusses false memories, interrogation, deception, and criminal psychology. If recollection can be altered by suggestion and later information, confidence alone can't establish accuracy. Investigations should preserve early accounts, avoid leading prompts, and compare memories with independent evidence rather than treating inconsistency as automatic dishonesty.
